Master Jigong, originally named Li Zhongxi, was a legendary Chinese Buddhist Zen master. He was born in 1927 in a humble family in Hunan Province, China, and showed a profound interest in Buddhism from an early age. Master Jigong was diligent and disciplined, displaying unwavering dedication to his spiritual practice. As a young man, he traveled throughout the country, visiting renowned Zen masters and scholars to learn various Buddhist theories and meditation techniques.
